Honoring Your Troops
May 25, 2009As it is Memorial Day in the U.S. today, we may want to consider honoring not only the men and women that defend our country, but also others who have come to our defense when we were in need. Here I’m speaking of our inner-children, alters, parts, etc. that took the brunt of the abuse we’ve experienced in our lives so that we, as a whole, might survive.
They are the reason we are here today. They mustered strength and courage to survive the abuse. They endured both emotional and physical pain on our behalf. They are the reason we survived.
Acknowledge them. Accept them. Honor them.
Without them we would not have survived.

What an excellent point and thing to remember. Thank you!
Would you consider sending this in to THE BLOG CARNIVAL AGAINST CHILD ABUSE? We have a deadline tomorrow for a Friday edition and the theme this month is “Memorial” stuff just like this! Thanks for considering it. (Details and an easy-to-click widget on my sidebar) are at my blog.)
Thank you for the suggestion. I just submitted it.

Indeed, they are so worth honoring! As you say without them many child abuse victims wouldn’t have made it. Thank you1
This is beautiful! You touched my inner-child!
Working with my inner child and gaining her trust, learning how to nurture her and loving her is some of the most rewarding work I have done in recovery. Thanks for sharing this article.
